After a few months of low activity, the Micromax backed YU is back in action with an upgrade to its first ever smartphone Yureka.
Packing performance-oriented hardware and much-needed premium look-and-feel, YU has launched the YU Yureka S. Well that’s an Apple style of ‘S’ upgrade to the smartphone. The smartphone now comes with a premium finish, full HD display, Snapdragon 615 SoC, 13-megapixel camera and high-speed 4G LTE with VoLTE support.
First, to the pricing side, the YU Yureka S will cost you around Rs 12,999 according to their official website. The smartphone availability and sales date are yet to be announced.
Coming to the aesthetics changes, the new YU Yureka S got a symmetrical design that’s fused with metal and polycarbonate built. The smartphone flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD widescreen display with 423 ppi offering natural colors and great image details. The beautiful screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Under the hood, the YU Yureka S is powered by 64-bit 2nd generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor that has four performance cores clocking 1.7GHz and four power-saving cores running at 1.1GHz. The processor is coupled with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 405 GPU offering immense gaming experience and multitasking capabilities.
The YU Yureka S comes with 16GB internal storage that can be expanded using microSD card added to the hybrid dual-SIM slot. For photography, the mobile got a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which comes with f/2.2 aperture and OV13850 PureCel camera chip. On the front for the selfie lovers, the mobile got a 5-megapixel camera with 84degree wide-angle lens.
Connectivity wise the YU Yureka S is fully equipped with high-speed 4G LTE supporting all Indian 4G bands along with VoLTE. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network support, WiFi and Bluetooth. To delight all audiophiles, the smartphone packs Wolfson codec and Yamaha Amp offering superior sound experience.
The YU Yureka S runs on Android Lollipop 5.1.1 wrapped under the Around YU UI. Which seems to be odd, as we already got the marshmallow version and upcoming Nougat version in line. The unique Around YU offers curated and personalized content from multiple apps and services.

The YU Yureka S pricing will put it in direct competition with Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and LeEco Le 2. But these smartphones have a somewhat better specification and features like the big screen, fingerprint sensor, up-to-date android etc. We just need to wait and see who YU perform in this competitive market.
