Your ad-free, uninterrupted video viewing experience on YouTube and your ad-free, offline listening experience on YouTube Music got costlier. The company has raised the price of its premium plans for YouTube and YouTube Music in India by up to 60 per cent.
The price of the YouTube Premium individual plan now starts at Rs 149 for the monthly subscription, which was earlier Rs 129 (a rise of Rs 20). If you’re going by the prepaid route, then the one-month YouTube Premium individual plan starts at Rs 159, a hike of Rs 20 from earlier Rs 139 per month.
A quarterly or 3-month prepaid individual plan of YouTube Premium now costs Rs 459, which was earlier Rs 399 – a hike of Rs 60. If you’re planning for a 12-month or yearly prepaid individual plan of YouTube Premium, then you would need to shell out Rs 1490, instead of an earlier price of Rs 1290, a hike of almost Rs 200.
YouTube Premium family subscription, which is the most cost-effective plan if you have a group of 5 friends or family gets a monthly price hike of almost Rs 110 from the earlier price of Rs 189 to now Rs 299 per month. Almost a price hike of 58.2 per cent. So, make sure now there are 5 members added to your plan and get them to pay you correctly the share of the subscription.
YouTube has also increased the rate of the student’s premium plan, which was launched at Rs 79 per month now hiked to Rs 89 per month.

Do note that YouTube Premium offers ad-free, uninterrupted, offline and in-the-background access to both YouTube and YouTube Music. Videos or music are ad-free, they can be placed in the background while screen-locked or while using other apps on your mobile. Premium subscription also allows you to download videos and songs to watch later when you’re offline or during limited network coverage.
YouTube Music Premium Price Hike in India
If you’re on to only listening to music and only want the YouTube Music premium subscription, then prepare to shell out more. YouTube has also increased the price of YouTube Music Premium in India.
YouTube Music Individual’s monthly subscription plan now starts at Rs 119, a hike of Rs 20 from the earlier Rs 99 per month plan. Prepaid YouTube Music premium plans in India now start at Rs 129 for one month, Rs 369 for 3 months and Rs 1190 for a 12-month plan.
If you’re going for the YouTube Music premium family subscription, then it would now cost Rs 179 per month. Whereas, the YouTube Music Premium student subscription now gets a price of Rs 59 per month.
Price raise starts today
These new prices for YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium in India are already live for new users.
Existing YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium Indian subscribers are getting emails from YouTube to agree to the new premium prices. For monthly subscribers, you would need to approve the new monthly prices to continue being a YouTube Premium or YouTube Music premium subscriber. If no action is taken by October 2024 your premium subscription will get cancelled without renewal.
Users with prepaid premium plans can continue to enjoy all the benefits of premium features until their existing plan expires. However, they will need to renew their subscription at the new rates to continue enjoying YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium.
