The successor to Redmi 3s, which now comes with full HD display, premium metal design, Snapdragon processors, better camera, fingerprint sensor and 4G VoLTE connectivity.
Xiaomi has unveiled Redmi 4 android smartphone along with two variants. The more expensive Redmi 4 Prime (aka the Redmi 4 Pro edition) and super affordable Redmi 4A. All these variants will go on sale next week in China starting November 11. But there is no word of when these devices will be launched in India.
As for the price the Redmi 4 got a price tag of CNY 699 (approximately Rs 6,900), whereas the premium Redmi 4 Prime will cost you CNY 899 (approximately Rs 8,900). The affordable among the three variants, Redmi 4A comes with a price tag of CNY 499 (approximately Rs 4,900).
Starting with the Xiaomi Redmi 4, the smartphone got a premium metal unibody design. The outer surface is built through the sandblasting process closely integrating metal and 2.5D glass. The mobile flaunts a 5-inch HD with 2.5D curved glass IPS display.
The Redmi 4 is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor that’s coupled with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 505 GPU. The mobile comes with 16GB of internal storage that can be easily expanded up to 128GB using microSD card. Coming to photography, the smartphone got a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5-lens system and supports PDAF. On the front, the mobile got a 5-megapixel selfie camera with the same f/2.2 aperture and 36 second-generation intelligent beauty profiles.
Connectivity wise the hybrid dual SIM (SIM or microSD) Redmi 4 supports high-speed 4G LTE networks along with VoLTE for HD voice and video calling. Other connectivity option includes 3G and 2G network support, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1. The mobile runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with MIUI 8 skin over the top. For extra security, the smartphone also features fingerprint sensor placed at the back, just below the back camera.
Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime comes with the exact same premium design of Redmi 4 except some hardware changes. The smartphone flaunts a 5-inch full HD IPS display and is powered by a powerful 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and Adreno 506 GPU.
The Redmi 4 Prime comes with more inbuilt storage capacity of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB using microSD card, thanks to the hybrid SIM slot it holds. Other specification including camera and connectivity option remains the same except the new Bluetooth v4.2.
Xiaomi Redmi 4A
The more budget friendly variant, Xiaomi Redmi 4A flaunts the exact design of the pricey variants. The mobile flaunts a 5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.4GHz Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor that’s coupled with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 308 GPU. For storage, the smartphone comes with 16GB inbuilt storage that can be further expanded using microSD card.
Other than the above hardware changes, Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes with the exact camera and connectivity options. One major thing missing here is the fingerprint sensor.
