Along with the second generation Mi A2, Xiaomi has also launched another Android One smartphone called the Mi A2 Lite. As the name suggests, this phone is a stripped-down version of Mi A2 making it more appealing for anyone looking for an entry-level smartphone with pure android experience.
On a quick run, the Mi A2 Lite packs a Snapdragon SoC, boosted by a big battery that can offer two-day battery life. It runs on a stock android operating system with no MIUI skin over the top. Thus you could experience pure android like in the Nexus and Pixel devices. You would also be in the first queue to get the latest android updates from Google.
Design and Performance
The Mi A2 Lite boasts a sleek metal body with the front portion flaunting a 5.84-inch full HD (1080 by 2280) display that got the famous notch at the top. It’s a 19:9 aspect ratio screen which is covered in a 2.5D glass over the top.
Powering the Mi A2 Lite is a 2.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which is paired with either 3GB or 4GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. For storage, you get to choose from 32GB and 64GB internal storage options, which is expandable up to 256GB, thanks to the dedicated microSD card slot. The phone runs on stock Android 8.1 Oreo OS with a few Mi apps.
Photography and Connectivity
Coming to photography, you get dual rear camera setup with Mi A2 Lite. It’s a combination of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensor featuring f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and LED flash support. The dual camera is backed by AI which helps in scene detection, blurs the background and sharpen edges.
For selfie addicts, the Mi A2 Lite comes with a 5-megapixel camera featuring f/2.0 large aperture and 67.9-degree wide-angle lens. It’s also backed by AI-powered portrait mode and Beautify 4.0. For videos, the cameras can record full HD videos at 30fps.
Coming to connectivity, Mi A2 Lite support dual nano-SIM cards, but you can’t use two 4G networks simultaneously. Thus the second SIM will support both 3G and 2G networks. The phone will also support 4G VoLTE for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and IR blaster.
