Telecom giants Vodafone, MTS and Bharti Airtel made into the prestigious elite club of global brands of this year’s (2013) BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands. UK-based Vodafone ranked 17th in the Brandz top 100 most valuable global brands 2013, followed by Russian based MTS ranking at 82nd and Indian telecom giant Bharti Airtel ranked at 89th.
The BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands study, commissioned by WPP and conducted by Millward Brown Optimor. It is the only ranking that takes into account what people think about the brands they buy alongside rigorous analysis of financial data, market valuations, analyst reports and risk profiles. The ranking is arrived through a continuous in-depth quantitative research on a category-by-category and a country-by-country basis.
Among the top 10 Telecom brands Vodafone ranked at number four, followed by MTS at 8th and Airtel ranking at 10th position.
“With the purchase of Cable and Wireless, Vodafone positioned itself for convergence. It gained greater capacity for serving business clients and a fiber-optic network in the UK that strengthened its position. Russia’s largest telecom, MTS focused on operational improvements that helped drive a profit increase. In a strategic initiative to leverage its retail presence of 4,200 locations and extend financial services to Russia’s large population of unbanked consumers, the brand has recently increased its interest in MTS Bank, the majority of which is still owned by their common parent Sistema.“
Previous year Bharti Airtel India’ become the second Indian brand and only telecommunication brand to make it into the BrandZ Top 100 Most Valuable Global Brands 2012.
