After around 6 months of major data price war between Indian telecom operators, its time for a hike. India’s second largest telecom operator Vodafone India has hiked their mobile internet rates for both 3G and 2G data packs.
Vodafone’s both Prepaid and Postpaid customers now need to pay double the rate for their ‘Pay as you Go‘ mobile internet plans. From the earlier 2 paisa per 10 KB charged on both 3G and 2G mobile internet plans, one need to pay now 4 paisa per 10KB. The following charges will also get applied to users who are on a mobile internet data plan and exceed the free data usage limit.
“Vodafone following its price change in November 2013 has revised its mobile Internet charges for Pay as Go (PAYG) users. At 4p/10KB, Vodafone still offers most attractive and lowest standard mobile Internet charges in the industry for pre-paid and post-paid customers. This is applicable to both 2G as well as 3G customers.” according to a Vodafone spokesperson.
The mobile internet rates are being rolled out in a phased manner starting from Karnataka telecom circle and soon will be made pan India. This change in internet rates will affect causal net browsers or first time users as they are now being charged double the rate. Users on any of the 2G or 3G data packs are not much affected from this change.
Earlier in November last year, Vodafone has reduced the rates by around 80 per cent from 10 paisa per 10 KB to 2 paisa per 10 KB starting the data price war among the Indian telecom operators.
