Are you on Videocon Telecom? then its time to port out of the network. After selling its spectrum in six telecom circles to Bharti Airtel, Videocon Telecom will be now shutting down its mobile services in this telecom circles on 11th May 2016.
Videocon Telecom has issued a public notice on its website and also through SMS to its subscribers, stating that its mobile services will be discontinued in effect from midnight of 11th May 2016.
Videocon Telecom subscribers in six telecom circle – Bihar & Jharkhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh (East) and Uttar Pradesh (West) are affected by the shutdown. Videocon Telecom’s mobile service has been already discontinued in Gujarat telecom circle on 26th December 2015.
Subscribers who are still using Videocon Telecom need to use mobile number portability (MNP) to port out of the network to any other telecom operator. Videocon suggests Airtel as its preferred partner for MNP, as they have transferred all spectrum to Airtel.
Subscribers need to use remaining mobile balance before porting out, as the balance will not be transferred to the recipient telecom operator.
MNP to port-out of Videocon Telecom
With MNP, you can use the same mobile number with any other telecom operator of your choice. Here are the steps to port out of Videocon Telecom –
- To port out of Videocon Telecom, you need to send an SMS PORT to 1900 to generate a unique porting code.
- Use this unique porting code while filling up the port-in form with another telecom operator.
- After submission of the form, MNP will be processed and completed within 7 days of the request.
- You will get an SMS from the recipient telecom operator with the status, no service period and activation time of the new SIM.
By shutting down its mobile service in six telecom circles, Videocon Telecom is now left with its services in Punjab telecom circle. However, the spectrum license in Punjab telecom circle will expire soon and been put up in the upcoming spectrum auction by Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
There is no report of Videocon Telecom renewing the spectrum license in Punjab telecom circle. So it will be wise to quickly use MNP and port-out of the network to any other telecom operator.

Dear Subscriber of Videocon Telecom Mobile Services,
Please be informed that M/s Videocon Telecommunications Limited (“Company”) would be discontinuing its mobile services with effect from the midnight of 11/05/2016 in Haryana/Madhya Pradesh/Haryana/Bihar & Jharkhand/ UP East/UP West/Gujarat Service Area (except Panchkula town and the local areas served by Faridabad and Gurgaon Telephone Exchange) (“Service Area”) due to transfer of spectrum to Airtel.
All subscribers are requested to exhaust the remaining balances in their respective accounts on or before midnight of 11/05/2016, and to ensure continuity of mobile services, we advice you to use the mobile number portability (MNP) facility to port out to our preferred partner Airtel in the Service Area at the earliest and in any case on or before midnight of 11/05/2016.
