You may have to wait months (probably till October) to get Government implement its decision on offering free roaming to all mobile subscribers in the country. But if you are subscriber of  Videocon Mobile Services then you are on luck, the telecom operator has made incoming calls free while on roaming on their own network by default and all without any special tariff vouchers or any processing fee.

This decision from Videocon comes in line with the recent TRAI’s recommendation of One Nation – Free Roaming under its National Telecom Policy 2012. Videocon subscribers will be getting this facility immediately without any activation or extra cost. Videocon Subscribers will get free incoming calls while roaming in Videocon’s own network and will get charged for all outgoing calls, SMS and data as per the user plan.

We aim at being a country free of any physical or geographical boundaries, and in pursuance of the visionary recommendations as underlined in the National Telecom Policy 2012, we reiterate our commitment towards ‘One Nation – Free Roaming’. To extend the benefits of freedom of movement across our network, we have introduced this offering where our subscribers roaming across Videocon Network will stand to benefit from free incoming calls. Recently only another telecom operator Aircel offered its subscribers roaming free with ‘One Nation, One Rate’ plan. The new plan offers one rate for Voice, SMS and Data in home circles and on roaming on Aircel network. With this One Nation, One Rate plan customers does not only do away with roaming charges but also provides lucrative voice, SMS and data tariffs. Aircel was offering ‘One Nation, One Rate’ plan at a  charge of Rs 25- Rs 39 (price vary on telecom circles) with a validity of 30 days.
