Keeping up the pace with leading telecom operators, Telenor India has launched Aadhaar based e-KYC SIM activation facility in all of its telecom circles. New subscribers can use this facility to instantly activate their mobile connection.
Telenor has successfully deployed the e-KYC SIM activation facility at 700 stores across its six telecom circles. These six telecom circles include Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujrat, Maharastra & Goa, Uttar Pradesh (east) and Uttar Pradesh (west).
The operator plans to extend the facility to all its 2000 retail outlets by end of November 2016. The operator has also planned to extend the e-KYC facility to thousands of its third party point of sales retail shops across its telecom circle.
“We are very excited about rolling out e-KYC as this heralds a new era of digitalization and is a step forward in making Digital India a reality. This is in line with our ambition of becoming the preferred partner in the digital life of our customers,” said Upanga Dutta, Chief Marketing Officer, Telenor India. “In a mobile first country, e-KYC reinforces our commitment to making mobile services simple and easy by using innovative technology solutions,” he added.
Customers can avail the Aadhaar based e-KYC SIM activation while getting a new Telenor mobile connection. To activate the connection customer must share his/her Aadhaar number and authenticate by completing biometric verification at the Telenor store. The whole process would take less than fifteen minutes and more secure.
