Gopal Vittal to become CEO of Bharti Airtel India
Sanjay Kapoor, current Bharti Airtel’s CEO (India and South Asia) ending his 15 year-long career with Airtel, will quit his position by 28th February 2013. He will be replaced by Gopal Vittal, group director (special projects), who will take over as the Airtel India CEO from March 1.
Gopal Vittal, who rejoined Bharti last year after a stint with India’s largest consumer goods maker Hindustan Unilever Ltd, will focus on increasing market share and margins and also on growing alternate revenue streams such as 3G data and mobile money said company in a statement.

Reliance Communication partners with Alcatel-Lucent to offer Next Generation telecom solutions
Reliance Communication (RCOM) India’s 3rd largest telecom operator has partnered with Alcatel-Lucent to provide end-to-end network managed services contract aimed at delivering superior customer experience in Eastern and Southern India up to 2020. The contract being signed for USD 1 billion, and will deliver world-class, seamless voice and data communications services to RCOM customers.
Alcatel-Lucent through this partnership will enhance Reliance Communication’s operations, and synergize hitherto independent wireless and wireline teams to form a single network management organization. This optimized integration of resources will help Reliance Communications to strengthen its focus on growing its business, with top-of-the-line services to customers. Alcatel-Lucent also will drive a standardization of the tools, processes and best practices that are applied across RCOM’s businesses.
Alcatel-Lucent will also set up and operate next-generation OSS (operations support systems) and introduce advanced real-time optimization tools to improve network performance across Reliance’s wireless, wireline, long-distance, fiber and utilities’ functions.

MTS India join hands with IUEPN to create Awareness on Polio Eradication
Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd (SSTL) which operates in India under MTS India brand has partnered with India Unite to End Polio Now (IUEPN) campaign supported by UNICEF, for Polio Eradication Awareness campaign across India cities mainly Delhi, UP, Bihar, West Bengal & Maharashtra using telecom technology to spread the message.
During this campaign, MTS will be sending out specially designed SMSs to more than 6.5 million subscribers across the five states informing them about the upcoming Polio Rounds on 20th January 2013. The SMS would read, “January 20 Ko Apne Bachche Ka Jeevan Polio Se Surakshit Banaaye. Har Baar Polio Ki Khuraq Pilaaye”.
Under the campaign, polio booths will be set up at multiple locations across all five states to administer polio drops to children.
