Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL), one of the major telecom operator in India announced that from Oct 20, 2011 all Tata Indicom customers ( both GSM and CDMA customers ) will be migrated under a unified brand Tata Docomo. It also includes 3G and Photon service that will be now on available under Tata Docomo brand. Through this Tata Docomo makes an entry into the CDMA space as-well.
TTL Regional Head (South) Yatish Mehrotra commented “Our new business approach gives TTL new strategic direction in the ‘access, content and solutions’ spaces, enabling the company to offer compelling propositions to customers in a market that has been witnessing far-reaching changes in terms of usage trends and customer preferences. We are planning significant investments to upgrade its CDMA network to deepen and widen its existing footprint.”
CDMA customers under the Tata Indicom brand and Internet data service customers under the Tata Photon brand will see their services move to the Tata Docomo name as a result of this migration. The change also helps in more integrated sales of Tata telecom products through its 3,000 retail outlets selling CDMA services, and the Docomo digital channels promoting data services more.
The migration of services to the unified Tata Docomo brand would happen in Delhi-NCR at a later date. This would not impact TTL’s Indicom, Photon and Walky consumers in Delhi, as they would continue to get the same quality of service as in the past.
So, what do you think about this recent change from Tata tele services ? Will it help to capture more subscribers to Docomo brand and will it offer new services for customers? Let us know your views on it.
