Tata Docomo, India’s most famous and young telecom provider has partnered with Vringo Inc and Hungama Digital Media Entertainment to launch one of the first kind video ringtone service in the Indian market for its GSM subscribers across 18 telecom circles in India.
The ringtone software is designed to allow users to create, download and share mobile video content that is specific to various regions of the world. Customers who need to avail this offer have to register by visiting tatadocomo.vringo.com on their phone’s mobile browser or web browser, after registration they can browse around categories of their choice and choose their favorite video for ringtone service. They can download the videos and set it as the ringtone. Video category includes featured, top 10, devotional, Bollywood, ads, cinema and TV, fun, fashion and style, sports and greetings. The video ringtone service will be available to Tata Docomom GSM subscribers in the country for 1 rupee per day which is recurring daily.
Hungama is handling the distribution of the Vringo service in India and the company is also providing Vringo with premium content from its content catalog to add to its video ringtone library. The company is working on a revenue share basis with Vringo.

Tata DOCOMO says it’s the first one to offer Vringo video ringtone as a service, but the fact that the video ringtone service is already available with BSNL and MTNL telecom providers for years now. It’s also interesting to note that Vringo mobile app is already available on Google play and users from any telecom network can use it to set video ringtone. Tata Docomo on the other hand got an upper hand as it has partnered with Hungama to provide biggest collection of videos.
