Stripe, one of the leading payment gateway and processing service has officially entered India. Indian Businesses can now start accepting online digital payments from customers in less than 10 minutes.
Stripe can accept all major debit and credit cards from customers in every country in more than 135 currencies. It can also support global payment methods like Bitcoin, WeChat Pay, Alipay and more.
With Stripe Elements, you can easily create custom payment form in minutes, that works across devices of all sizes. It’s a pre-built UI component that supports validation, formatting, localization, browser-detection, and even achieve PCI-DSS compliance.
Launched as an invite-only beta, Stripe in India will be available for a small group of Indian companies. These businesses will try out or test the platform and with their feedback, Stripe will build Indian specific features.
“Today, we’re starting an invite-only beta for Stripe in India with a small group of companies. These businesses will help us test our platform in the Indian market and provide feedback on features that we’ll need to build to support all Indian businesses looking to accept online payments and run their companies on Stripe,” said Anand Balaji on Stripe blog.
With Stripe opening up its operations locally, Indian companies can connect their local bank accounts to Stripe and get paid out in rupees. This will help more Indian businesses and more types of business models (such as local marketplaces) to use the global payment platform. The company also looking to build new products specifically for the Indian market and is hiring engineers to do that.
