One of India’s leading Internet Service Providers (ISPs) Spectra (formerly Spectranet) has kept its top position intact for months now, by providing consistent high-speed fibre internet connection. With an average speed of 3.27 Mbps, the ISP has been offering the fastest streaming speed for watching your favourite TV shows and movies on Netflix.
According to Netflix Indian ISP Speed Index for November 2017, Spectranet ISP’s speed has been increasing steadily and now stands at an average of 3.27 Mbps, the fastest in India. On the second spot, we now have Hathway ISP with an average speed of 3.01 Mbps. The ISP has pushed 7 Star Digital ISP with an average speed of 2.88 Mbps, down to the third spot. The surprise entry is from ATRIA Convergence Technologies ISP, who has jumped up three positions to become the fourth speediest connection provider in India, with an average speed of 2.8 Mbps.
India’s largest telecom operator and second largest wired broadband provider Airtel dropped further in the ranking, taking the fifth spot. The telco averaged a speed of 2.75 Mbps in Netflix ISP Speed Index for November 2017.
As always, government-owned and India’s largest ISP providers BSNL and MTNL ranked last in the Netflix ISP Speed Index. But, we could expect a bigger change in the speeds in December period, as BSNL has upgraded most of its broadband plans to 10Mbps speed.

So what’s Netflix ISP Speed Index? It a measure of average prime-time bitrate for Netflix content streamed to Netflix users during a particular month. Do note that speed indicated here is not a measure of overall performance for other services/data that may travel across the specific ISP network.
