Maybe it’s not as good design as the competitors, Android UI may be bad, but Sony Smartphones excel in camera and photography. The Japanese mobile vendor has launched its premium android smartphone Sony Xperia XZ1 in India. The phone is worth a flagship tag, as it has been placed between Xperia XZs and the Xperia XZ Premium.

As the smartphone comes with premium features, it also priced at a premium. The Sony Xperia XZ1 get’s a price tag of Rs 44,990 and will be available in both online and offline retail stores across India. For the launch day, Sony will be offering HDFC credit or debit card holders a five percent cash back on the purchase of the mobile.

The Camera

Before we go deeper into the specification, the first major feature of Sony Xperia XZ1 is its camera. The mobile sports a 19-megapixel Motion Eye camera at the rear. It features BIONZ mobile image-processing engine, 25 mm wide Sony’s award-winning G Lens F2.0, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and x8 Digital Zoom. One of the innovative features of the camera is its ‘3D Creator’. This allows you to scan faces or objects to create a 3D image. If you got a 3D printer, you can actually print those captured 3D images. Besides the 3D capturing, the mobile can shoot slow-motion videos at 960fps.

Coming to the front, for selfie addicts, the mobile carries a 13-megapixel camera. It features 22mm wide angle lens, F/2.0 aperture, SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode.

The other specs

Design-wise, Sony Xperia XZ1 boasts a loop surface and seamless metal body that has rounded edges with sharp corners. For colour choices, you get to choose only the Black colour variant. As always, the mobile is IP65/681 certified to withstand splashes, spills and unexpected showers.

Sony Xperia XZ1 flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD HDR TRILUMINOS display with HDR support and protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, the mobile is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Mobile Platform paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android Oreo, one of the first android devices apart from Google Pixels and Nexus devices to run the latest android platform. For storing your images and other media content, the mobile comes with 64GB of internal storage. You can further upgrade the storage up to 256GB using microSDXC support.

For connectivity, the Sony Xperia XZ1 support LTE (4G) that supports almost every Indian telcos, 4G band. You will also get VoLTE support for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and USB Type-C. For extra security, the mobile comes with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the side power button. Finally, fueling the device is a 2700 mAh battery with Smart Stamina 3.0 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.
