First, we are safe as Samsung India has not yet started shipping the flagship phablet device Galaxy Note7 to pre-booked Indian customers. The delivery has been delayed and you will only get the device late October or early November.

What happened? There have been multiple reports or according to Samsung 35 cases globally of Galaxy Note7 devices exploding while charging. The issue has been identified as a defect in the battery cell.

For the safety of the customer who already brought the Note7, Samsung has announced a global recall of the phablet. These customers will get a replacement for the Galaxy Note7. Also, sales and pre-booking of new Galaxy Note7 have been stopped or delayed globally till they rectify the issue.

Samsung Stops Sales & Recalls Galaxy Note7, due to Exploding Batteries

Samsung has conducted a thorough investigation on the issue surrounding exploding batteries and found the problem with the faulty battery cell.

Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously.

To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7.

For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.

So, if you are planning to buy a Galaxy Note7 then we suggest waiting a month till the company clears all the issue with the phablet. As you won’t be safe carrying an exploding device in your pocket. If you have already bought the Note7 then we suggest to check and ask for the replacement unit from any of the Samsung service centers.
