To take on the Chinese invasion in affordable or budget range of android smartphones in India, the South Korean mobile vendor Samsung has introduced M series android smartphones. Under the Samsung M series, the company has launched Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 smartphones in India. Marketed as “India-first” smartphones, these smartphones are mainly targeted towards the price conscious customers along with millennials.
The Samsung Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M10 smartphones get company’s newly announced display panels – the Infinity-V display panels. It’s actually a V-shaped notch cut or OnePlus’s style waterdrop notch on the mobile screen. These smartphones also get dual rear camera setup, ultra wide camera, expandable storage option and face-unlock security. Another cool addition is the support for Widevine L1 certification, which allows you to stream HD content from apps like Amazon Prime and Netflix.
Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 Price and Availability
Before getting into the specifications of these phones, let’s look into the pricing. The Samsung Galaxy M10 smartphone price in India starts at Rs 7,990, which is for the 2GB RAM and 16GB storage variant. While the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant of the phone priced at Rs 8,990.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy M20 smartphone gets a price tag of Rs 10,990 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option. While the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant will retail at Rs 12,990. Both phones will be available in Charcoal Black and Ocean Blue colour options.
Both the Samsung M series smartphone will be available exclusively via Amazon India and Samsung India e-Store. The sale of the phones starts on 5th February 2019. There are some introductory offers, like form Jio, where you would get “Double-Data” benefits on recharges.
Samsung Galaxy M10 Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy M10 got a polycarbonate body, which still keeps the modern design aesthetic. It features a 6.22-inch HD+ (720 by 1520 pixels) infinity TFT display with a V-shaped notch at the top of the screen. The screen boasts a 19:9 aspect ratio with fewer bezels all around, allowing a large 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio. Under the hood, the mobile carries a 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core processor coupled with either 2GB RAM and 16GB storage or 3GB RAM and 32GB storage combination. There is also a dedicated expandable memory slot to expand the storage up to 512GB.
Coming to photography, the Galaxy M10 boats a dual camera rear setup. This includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture for low light photography and a 5-megapixel secondary, ultra-wide sensor. Up front, there is a 5-megapixel selfie camera featuring f/2.0 aperture and in-display flash.
The dual-SIM supported Samsung Galaxy M10 supports 4G LTE, VoLTE, 3G and 2G connectivity options. The phone also comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Micro-USB port. There is face unlock options available with the phone but lacks the traditional fingerprint scanner. The mobile packs 3,400mAh battery, which however lacks the support for fast charging.
Samsung Galaxy M20 Specifications
The much more feature rich and powerful Samsung Galaxy M20 boasts the same build quality as of Galaxy M10. It, however, flaunts a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (1080 by 2340 pixels) infinity display with the V-shaped notch and an 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the mobile is powered by a 1.8 GHz Exynos 7904 octa-core processor coupled with Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. The processor gets paired with either 3GB RAM and 32GB storage option or 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option. It also comes with a dedicated memory slot for expanding the storage.
In the photography field, Galaxy M20 carries the same 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture and 5-megapixel 120-degree ultra wide angle sensor rear camera combination. However, in the front the mobile boats an 8-megapixel selfie camera featuring f/2.0 aperture and in-display flash support.
Connectivity options in Galaxy M20 include support for 4G LTE, 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It comes with Widevine L1 certification, thus you could stream HD video content. The mobile also gets Dolby ATMOS 360-degree surround sound option. the phone features both fingerprint and face unlock biometric authentication. Finally, powering the device is a 5000 mAh battery which comes with a 15W Type-C fast charger.
Both Samsung Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 run on Android 8.1 Oreo-based on Samsung Experience 9.5 UX. Which seems to be a bad addition to the new M series, as we already have Android Pie being released in the wild. The company, however, plans to offer Android Pie update during the latter half of 2019.
