Samsung‘s Galaxy family of Android devices got its cheapest member, with the launch of Galaxy Star at an affordable price point of Rs 5,240. But most of the online retailers like Flipkart and HomeShop18 are listing the device at a cheaper rate of Rs 4990 and less.
Samsung Galaxy Star features a 3 inch QVGA TFT LCD capacitive touch screen and powered by a 1GHz Cortex A5 processor with 512MB RAM. It comes with a 2 mega pixel rear camera and 4GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB with microSD card. It supports Dual SIM and has 2G GPRS/ EDGE, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity options. One of the attractive point with the device is that it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and on top Samsung’s latest TouchWiz UI.

- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 2MP rear camera
- 4GB internal storage and microSD card support
- Dual SIM
- GPRS/ EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 2.0
- 1,200mAh Battery
Samsung has partnered with one of India’s top telecom operator Vodafone India to bundle 250 MB of 2G data usage free with the device for two months, on all devices bought before July 31 , 2013.
One down point we see on the device is that it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS which is not the latest one out there. And as the device is in the cheaper price side, Samsung surely will never provide any sort of Android update to the device. Other than that the Samsung Galaxy Star is the perfect Galaxy smartphone for the common man in India.
