A premium, power-packed android smartphone that brings a range of improvement over last year models. Samsung India has launched the 2017 edition Galaxy A series android smartphones – Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017). On a quick glance, both mobiles feature premium build, water and dust resistant, 16MP front and back camera, full HD display, Exynos processor and most importantly 4G with VoLTE support.
First to the pricing, the newest Galaxy A series starts at a premium price tag of above Rs 25K. The Galaxy A5 (2017) will retail for a price tag of Rs 28,990, whereas the Galaxy A7 (2017) will cost Rs 33,490. The mobile will be available across all major online stores as well as offline retail stores across India. The sales for the mobile being on 15th March 2017.
Design and Performance
Both Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) comes in a premium metal unibody design. On the front we got the 3D Curved Glass combined with Zero camera protrusion on the back. Overall the mobile got a minimal, yet elegant look and feel. The Galaxy A5 (2017) flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD super AMOLED display. Whereas the Galaxy A7 (2017) got a bigger 5.7-inch full HD super AMOLED display. Both mobiles feature ‘Always on Display‘ where you can see the clock or read notifications without even waking up your phone.
Coming under the hood, both Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) is powered by a 1.9Ghz Exynos 7880 octa-core processor. The processor is coupled with 3GB of RAM offering much-needed power to do multi-tasking. For storing all your media contents the mobiles come with 32GB of internal storage. The storage can be further extended up to 256GB using microSD card.
Camera and Connectivity
To capture your memorable moments, both Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) comes with the 16-megapixel camera on front and back. This camera features f.1.9 aperture lenses offering extra depth and detail on images. On the back, the camera is supported with LED flash. Whereas on the front for taking selfies the display doubles up as a flash.
Connectivity-wise both mobiles comes with 4G LTE Cat.6 that supports every 4G bands in India. In addition, the mobile also supports VoLTE for HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G, 2G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, and USB Type-C. The Galaxy A5 (2017) run by a 3000mAh battery, whereas the Galaxy A7 (2017) got a bigger 3,600mAh battery.
Features and Extras
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) and Galaxy A7 (2017) comes with water and dust resistant IP68 rating. The mobile can survive underwater at up to 1.5 meters and for up to 30 minutes. For added security, the mobiles come with a fingerprint sensor embedded in the front home button. Both mobiles run on an older Android Marshmallow OS with TouchWiz UI over the top. Samsung is expected to provide an update to the latest Android Nougat OS in the coming months.
