After Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) recent announcement on reduction of ceiling price for national roaming calls and SMS, Indian telecom operators are now compiling to the new regulation and started revising their national roaming plans. Airtel now offering free incoming calls on roaming for just Rs 5 per day, Vodafone India providing roaming across India at 30paise per minute on Rs 44 recharge, Idea Cellular offering roaming across India at 75paise per minute along with free incoming calls on Rs 230 vouchers and Tata Docomo offering 1.25paisa per second while on its own network, along with 75 paise per minute in other networks on roaming.
Airtel National Roaming Plans
India’s top telecom operator Airtel has announced new national roaming plans offering free incoming calls on roaming for its prepaid customers across India at Rs 5 per day or Rs 79 with 30 days validity. Under this plan all outgoing calls been charged at 1.5 paise per sec. To subscribe to the plan customers need to send SMS roam to 121.
Airtel postpaid customers can subscribe to Roaming Pack 75 which is priced at Rs 75 (auto renewed every month) where all Incoming calls on roaming will be free. All other rates and benefits will be same as base plan on which customer is currently on. In addition postpaid customers can subscribe to bill plans offering national roaming with reduced voice and SMS rates including free incoming calls. Three new bill plans include Roaming Tariff Plan 99, Roaming Free Incoming Plan 99 and Travel Mate 499.

Vodafone India National Roaming Plans
Vodafone India with its new Travel Plan priced at Rs 42 offers prepaid customers with all STD, local and incoming calls at 1.5 paisa per sec or 70 paisa per minute with a validity of 180 days. Another national roaming plan of recharge on Rs 44 offers prepaid customers with all incoming calls at 30 paisa per minute for the 30days, after that 1.5 paisa per seconds for rest of the validity period. Along with it all outgoing Local and STD calls rates will be 1.5 paisa per seconds with a total validity of 180 days.
For postpaid customers Vodafone introduced two new roaming plans with Rs 149 plan offering reduced roaming call rates and with Rs 299 plan offering unlimited free incoming calls on roaming for one month. Details on the roaming plans –
Tata Docomo National Roaming Plans
Tata Docomo also reduced the call rates on roaming with incoming calls on Tata Docomo network being charged at 1.25 paisa per seconds and to other networks at 75 paisa per minute. Outgoing calls (local and national) to Tata Docomo network is charged at 1.5 paisa per seconds and to other network local calls at Rs 1 per minute and national calls at Rs 1.5 per minute.
Idea Cellular National Roaming Plans
Idea Cellular has reduced the call rates while on Roaming with Incoming calls being now charged at 75 paisa per minute and outgoing local calls charged at Rs 1 per minute and outgoing STD calls charged at Rs 1.50 per minute. Incoming SMS remains free, but outgoing local SMS being charged at Rs 1 per minute and outgoing national SMS charged at Rs 1.5 per SMS.
Idea has also introduced two new roaming vouchers charged at Rs 35 and Rs 230. Rs 35 (varies in different telecom circle) roaming plan offers reduced incoming call rates of 75 paise per minute and with Rs 230 (varies in different telecom circle) roaming plan customers will get unlimited free incoming calls. This new roaming vouchers has a validity of six months and available for pan-India prepaid customers.
