The most exciting announcement after the revolutionary and disrupting 4G LTE telecom service from Reliance Jio is here. The telecom operator has officially launched its fiber broadband service – Jio GigaFiber.
Reliance Jio’s high-speed fiber broadband service Jio GigaFiber will commence operation in 1,100 cities in the country. It will be the largest greenfield fixed-line broadband rollout anywhere in the world. It would bring advanced fiber-based broadband connectivity solutions to homes, merchants, small and medium enterprises and large enterprises.
Jio GigaFiber on the home will bring high-speed broadband with a speed of 1Gbps. Isha Ambani during the announcement of GigaFiber said: “Gone are the days of Mbps, now it will be all about Gbps“. In addition, the telco will offer other connected services like ultra HD entertainment on TVs with JioTV and JioCinema. You could experience multi-party video conferencing via Giga TV service. There would be a voice-activated virtual assistant like the Google Home and Amazon Echo. You would also able to experience VR-gaming and view 360-degree content, along with digital shopping.
Reliance Jio has also announced a range of smart-home solutions accompanying the Jio GigaFiber service. This includes devices like security cameras, home appliances, smart lights and switches, smoke sensor, gas leak sensor, water leak sensor, door sensor, and more. This would definitely disrupt the whole home automation and security business in India.
For merchants and small businesses, Jio GigaFiber would offer faster connectivity and other cloud-based solutions. For large enterprises, the telco will offer digital tools and techniques to offer better linkage to the global market. Essentially, Jio plans to lead the fourth industrial revolution.

Reliance Jio has already laid down state-of-the-art digital infrastructure with an investment crossing Rs 250,000 crore. As some of you may already know, Jio GigaFiber has been running beta trials in tens of thousands of homes in all major Indian cities. Reliance Jio will open up registration for new JioGigaFiber connection starting 15th August 2018. You could register your interest for the service via MyJio mobile app and Jio official website. However, the company has decided to prioritize rollout to those localities from where they would receive the highest number of registrations.
