India’s fourth largest telecom operator Reliance communications (RCom) has officially launched its much-awaited 4G LTE service – Reliance 4G. The 4G service is currently been launched in SUB-1GHz LTE frequency, leveraging Reliance Jio’s 4G network.

Don’t get confused as it’s not the Reliance Jio 4G service. RCom is is a subsidiary of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group and Reliance Jio is part of Reliance Industries Limited owned by Mukesh Ambani.

Currently, RCom’s 4G LTE service is open only for Reliance CDMA and EvDO customers who were added during the phase one migration process carried out in nine telecom circles. If you are one of the lucky one to own a Reliance 4G SIM, then you can now insert the 4G SIM to the 4G WiPod or 4G dongle to enjoy the high-speed 4G network.

Initially, RCom’s 4G service being rolled out across 12 telecom circles, including Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra, Delhi, Kolkata, Gujarat, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Users in Tamil Nadu, Chennai, Kerala, Karnataka, and Rajasthan telecom circle need to wait for a couple of months to upgrade to Reliance 4G.

How to upgrade to Reliance 4G

RCom CDMA customers can easily migrate to Reliance 4G by getting a new 4G SIM from any of the Reliance Store in their area. After getting the new 4G SIM from any Reliance store, both postpaid or prepaid user need to SMS 4G <space> 19 digit SIM number of the new 4G SIM to 1299 from their existing CDMA SIM. One can also call 1299 from their CDMA mobile and enter the new 19-digit 4G SIM number to get it activated.

For RCom’s data card subscribers, after getting the new 4G SIM from any Reliance store head over to the reliance net connect website [reliancenetconnect.co.in]. There fill out the “Upgrade to 4G” form with their existing Reliance CDMA data card number, details of their new 4G SIM, email address, and alternative mobile number to receive the OTP.

After the OTP verification is completed, subscribers can place an order for a new 4G data card or Wifipod from the Reliance Communication store.

Reliance 4G data charges

Coming to the biggest question of what will be the 4g data charges on Reliance 4G. The smallest 4G data plan starts at Rs 97 which offers 1GB of high-speed 4G data benefits with a validity of two days. For extra validity, the Rs 259 4G data plan comes with 1GB of 4G data benefits and a validity of 28 days.

For data-savvy users, Rs 1399 4G data pack offers 10GB of high-speed 4G data benefits with a validity of 28 days. Users will be charged 4 paise per 10 KB for data usage after the plan benefits.
