We got a new member added to the ever-expanding Redmi series. Xiaomi today officially launched its newest member to the series – the Redmi 9 Prime. It comes just a few weeks after the launch of Redmi Note 9.

The affordable smartphone from Xiaomi touts to be an all-rounder. It packs AI-powered Quad camera, MediaTek SoC, big full HD+ display and bigger 5020mAh battery with full fast charging support.

Before we get into the detailed specifications, let’s look into the pricing. The Redmi 9 Prime price starts at Rs 9,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant. Whereas, the 128GB storage model of the phone will retail for Rs 11,999. For the colour choices, you have Matte Black, Mint Green, Space Blue and Sunrise Flare.

The phone will be available for purchase for the first time exclusively via Amazon India during the Prime Day sale or on August 6, at 10 AM. After that, the usual sale for the phone will be starting from August 17 through Amazon, Mi online store, Mi Home stores and Mi Studios.

Prime Time All-rounder specifications

The Redmi 9 Prime embraces the Aura design that feels solid in hand, adds additional grip and ring at the back that encapsulates the quad-camera setup and the fingerprint sensor. The phone flaunts 6.53-inch full HD+ (2340 x 1080) IPS display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, whereas the whole phone is coated with P2i nano-coating to protect against splashes and spills.

Under the hood, the Redmi 9 Prime is powered by octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor coupled with 950MHz ARM G52 GPU. It packs the HyperEngine Game Technology that offers smooth gaming performance. The processor is paired with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. The phone runs on MIUI 11 based Android 10 OS.

Talking about the camera, the Redmi 9 Prime boasts a quad-camera setup at the rear. These include a 13-megapixel primary camera sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with 118.2-degree FOV, 5-megapixel macro camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. As always, there are lots of AI-based enhancement under the hood. For selfies, the phone comes with an 8-megapixel AI camera which is under the waterdrop-style notch in the front.

For connectivity, the Redmi 9 Prime has support for 2+1 dedicated SIM card slots. There you get 4G LTE, dual VoLTE, VoWiFi, 2.4G/5G Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5, IR blaster and Type-C port. There is also the inclusion of 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Redmi 9 Prime packs a big 5020mAh battery that can last up to 19 hours of video playback or 31 hours of VoLTE calling. The phone supports Type-C 18W fast charge but only comes with a 10W fast-charge in-box.
