For those who love the classical Carnatic and Hindustani rhythms, India’s national broadcaster All India Radio has launched a 24×7 classical music channel – Raagam. The new music channel will be freely available on All India Radio Live mobile app (android, iOS & Windows phone), on DTH and also via online live streaming on AIR Bengaluru.
Raagam will be uplinked from AIR Bengaluru station, whereas 14 other AIR stations will be contributing to its programming. Around 58 percent of the music will Carnatic and rest 42 percent will be from Hindustani music.
The channel will have specific time bands for archival assets, musical collection from senior living legends, budding and upcoming artists contributions which are auditioned and approved by AIR and will also have programmes on classical music with interpretation and elucidation by musicologists of repute – according to a statement from Prasar Bharati.
