With greater advancement like voice guided turn-by-turn navigation and real-time tariff data, more and more Indian users are using Google Maps like never before. India also account for more than 913 mobile subscribers (according TRAI’s report) and out of which most of the subscribers do daily internet usage through mobile. The main part on this mobile data usage goes for searching on Google and using Google Maps.
Google Maps team reviewed the summer search activity on maps.google.com in several countries which also include India between the end of May 2012 and the beginning of September 2012. They revealed the top-rising searches and often-searched landmarks on Google Maps.
‘Tourist Attraction‘ become the top searched term done by Indians on Google Maps, followed by ‘Railway and Metro Stations‘. Indians always religious thus ‘Religious Places‘ searched on Google Maps hit the top 3rd position. Other popular search terms on Google Maps include Real Estate, Colleges, Courier services location, Banks, Petrol stations, Passport office and in the tenth position Restaurants & Hotels.
Google also reviled top 10 landmarks in India, topping the searches ‘Yamuna Expressway‘ a 165 km long, controlled-access expressway, connecting Greater Noida with Agra. Second spot goes to God’s own Country ‘Kerala‘ ( that’s where i live 🙂 ), followed by famous Education institution ‘Anna University‘. The most beautiful ‘Taj Mahal’ , Vaishno Devi, Ignou, Shirdi, Electronic City, Bangalore, Gateway of India and Leh got into the top searches in India.
