Along with the premium OnePlus 7 pro, the Chinese smartphone vendor has unveiled its affordable flagship killer – the OnePlus 7. In a nutshell, the smartphone feature Snapdragon 855 SoC, UFS 3.0 2-lane ultra-fast storage, 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor as its primary camera, Fast Charging, guaranteed 2-year of software updates, and 3 years of security updates.

OnePlus 7 pricing

The OnePlus 7 is marked as the ‘affordable’ flagship smartphone in the duo with a price tag starting at Rs 32,999, which is for the base model with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It also got a higher variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage priced at Rs 37,999. For colour choices, the 6GB model gets the Mirror Grey colour, whereas the 8GB RAM variant will be available in Mirror Grey and Red colour options. All this combination of the mobile will be available for purchase straight from Amazon India and OnePlus Store starting this June 2019. However, there is no exact sale date has been detailed.

OnePlus 7 quick rundown

The little brother in the OnePlus 7 Series, the OnePlus 7 retains the design aspect from the OnePlus 6T featuring a curved glass back. It flaunts a 6.41-inches Full-HD+ (2340 by 1080 pixels) Optic AMOLED display featuring 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 402ppi pixel density. Yes, it has the famous water-drop style notch at the top of the screen. It also supports sRGB and DCI-P3 colour gamuts. The Reading Mode and Night Mode feature from the previous generations is retained but lacks the new Night Mode 2.0 from OnePlus 7 Pro. However, this gorgeous display is protected with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

OnePlus 7 unveiled in India

The OnePlus 7 is powered by the same 2.84 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with Qualcomm AI Engine and Adreno 640 GPU. For RAM and storage combination you could choose from 6GB RAM/128GB storage or 8GB RAM/256GB storage. It also gets the UFS 3.0 2-LANE storage, which offers super fast data transfer. The phone runs on OxygenOS based on Android 9.

Dual Camera, Capture it all

Instead of the triple camera unit in OnePlus 7 Pro, the OnePlus 7 features only a dual rear camera setup. This includes the 48-megapixel primary camera with Sony IMX 586 sensor featuring f/1.7 aperture, OIS, EIS and PDAF. The secondary camera is a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.4 aperture. These cameras are accompanied by a dual LED flash module.

This camera comes with UltraShot, Nightscape, Studio Lighting, Portrait, Pro Mode, Panorama, HDR, AI Scene Detection, RAW Image shooting modes. For videos, you could record 4K videos at 30/60 fps and Super Slow Motion videos at 240 fps for 1080p video.

For selfies, the OnePlus 7 packs the same 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor from OnePlus 7 Pro. It features f/2.0 aperture, EIS and can record 1080p videos and 30fps.

Other key features

Connectivity option in OnePlus 7 includes dual nano-SIM with support for 4G LTE, VoLTE, 3G and 2G network options. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4G/5G, Bluetooth 5.0 with support for aptX/aptX HD/LDAC/AAC, NFC and USB Type-C (v3.1 Gen 1). The in-display optical fingerprint sensor is said to be faster as it would take only just 0.21 seconds to unlock the device.

For audiophiles, the OnePlus 7 comes with dual stereo speakers with noise cancellation support and Dolby Atmos. Here also you would miss is the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack. Instead of the new haptic vibration motor found in OnePlus 7 Pro, in OnePlus 7 you’re getting only the improved linear motor. For game lovers, there is a Fnatic mode, that gets rid of all distractions and optimizes the CPU/GPU and RAM for an uninterrupted and immersive gaming experience.

Finally, the OnePlus 7 packs a 3700 mAh (non-removable) battery with support for Fast Charging. Interestingly, you could also keep playing or watch a movie while charging the phone, as the Fast Charge stays cool all the time.
