Finally, the most awaited day has come for OnePlus fans. The Chinese smartphone vendor has unveiled its latest flagship killers – the OnePlus 7 Series. Yes, this time the company has gone for two distinct models – the original OnePlus 7 and the muscular and more feature rich OnePlus 7 Pro.

Both the flagship killer duos have the latest and the greatest hardware along with buttery smooth Oxygen OS (based on Android Pie). In a nutshell, both smartphones feature Snapdragon 855 SoC, UFS 3.0 2-lane ultra-fast storage, 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor as its primary camera, Fast Charging, guaranteed 2-year of software updates, and 3 years of security updates.

OnePlus 7 Pro pricing

The true flagship, the OnePlus 7 Pro like any premium smartphones gets a hefty price tag. The base variant of OnePlus 7 Pro with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage is priced at Rs 48,999 (it’s available only in Mirror Grey colour). For the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage combo, you need to shell out Rs 52,999 (available in Mirror Gray, Nebula Blue and Almond colours). Finally, the top-end model with 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at Rs 52,999 and available only in Nebula Blue colour options.

Let’s first talk about the big brother among the OnePlus 7 Series, the OnePlus 7 Pro. It got a slim and sleek design, with a glass sandwiched from the front and the back. The smartphone flaunts a 6.67-inches Quad HD+ (3120 by 1440 pixels) Fluid AMOLED display that’s entirely notch-free and curved from all sides. The glass in the front and the back is protected with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Truly a dream design we all craving for. OnePlus 7 Pro with 12GB RAM, Triple Camera launched in India

The OnePlus 7 Pro display features a 90 Hz refresh rate which offers buttery smooth motion while you watch videos or while playing games. It has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 516ppi. It also supports HDR10+ technology, thus you could watch videos in super high clarity from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and others. There is also a Night Mode 2.0, which automatically filters out blue light and optimizes screen brightness level to protect your eyes.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 7 Pro packs the mighty 2.84 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor coupled with Qualcomm AI Engine and Adreno 640 GPU. For RAM and storage combination you could choose from 6GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/256GB storage and 12GB RAM/256GB storage. The highlight is the UFS 3.0 2-LANE storage, which offers super fast data transfer. To keep the heat out, there is a 10-layer liquid cooling system placed throughout the phone body.

Triple camera treat

The OnePlus 7 Pro features three rear camera unit and a single pop-up camera unit at the front. The back cameras include a primary camera with 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor featuring f/1.6 aperture, OIS and EIS. The second camera unit an 8-megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture and also features OIS. It’s also capable of 3x optical zoom. Finally, there is also a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens with 117-degree field of vies and features f/2.2 aperture. Accompanying this triple camera unit is the dual LED flash and also support Multi Autofocus (PDAF+LAF+CAF).

This camera comes with UltraShot, Nightscape, Studio Lighting, Portrait, Pro Mode, Panorama, HDR, AI Scene Detection and RAW Image shooting modes. Here the Nightscape 2.0 mode is especially interesting as it would allow you to take bright and detailed night scenes. For videos, you could record 4K videos at 30/60 fps and Super Slow Motion video capture at 240 fps for 1080p video.

Coming to the front, OnePlus 7 Pro features a pop-up selfie camera featuring 16-megapixel Sony IMX471 sensor. It comes with an f/2.0 aperture and EIS. If you doubt the mechanism behind the pop-up camera, then the company is providing a guarantee that it would last easily for 5.5 years with over 150 times of usage every day. That’s without any wearing down on the camera unit. In addition, the pop-up camera comes with its own smart drop protection which will automatically retract if it detects your phone is being dropped. It also features an anti-dust mechanism to keep dust and dirt out of the pop-up camera parts.

Other key features

As for connectivity options, the OnePlus 7 Pro supports dual SIM with 4G LTE, VoLTE, 3G and 2G network options. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4G/5G, Bluetooth 5.0 with support for aptX/aptX HD/LDAC/AAC, NFC and USB Type-C (v3.1 Gen 1). The in-display optical fingerprint sensor is said to be faster as it would take only just 0.21 seconds to unlock the device.

For audiophiles, the OnePlus 7 Pro comes with dual stereo speakers with noise cancellation support and Dolby Atmos. Yet, one thing you would miss is the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack. The company is also touting the new haptic vibration motor which offers more powerful feedback with every touch.

Finally, the OnePlus 7 Pro packs a 4000 mAh (non-removable) battery with support for Warp Charge 30 Fast Charging. This would allow you to charge your phone from 0 per cent to 50 per cent in just 20 minutes. Interestingly, you could also keep playing while charging the phone, as the Warp Charge 30 technology would isolate heat generated while charging. Thus keeping your phone cool and fast even while charging and gaming at the same time.
