NVIDIA unveils 'Project Shield' Android Portable Gaming Device

NVIDIA Project SHIELD is powered by the latest announced NVIDIA Tegra 4 that has custom 72-core NVIDIA GeForce GPU and Quad-core A15 CPU. It has a full-size console-grade game controller which provides gamers with ultimate control and precision. Brilliant gameplay and video are provided by Project SHIELD’s integrated 5-inch, 1280×720 HD retinal multitouch display, with 294 dpi. For a rich audio experience Project SHIELD provides custom, bass-reflex, tuned port audio system with twice the low-frequency output of high-end laptops. Connectivity is through WiFi, which provides high-bandwidth, ultra-fast wireless for seamless game streaming.The gaming device run on pure stock Android Jelly Bean operating system from Google, providing access to thousands of Android applications and games.

NVIDIA Project SHIELD expects to be shipped in Q2 of 2013, as currently they have confirmed that it’s in early beta stage. There is also no word on pricing for the device but we can imagine it to be priced around $350.
