A stripped down version of the recently launched Nokia 8, yet packing decent hardware and software. That’s the new Nokia 7 smartphone from HMD Global, the mobile vendor behind Nokia android smartphones.

The Nokia 7 is priced at CNY 2,499 or around Rs 24,600 for the base variant with 4GB of RAM. The higher variant with 6GB of RAM is priced little higher at CNY 2,699 or approximately Rs 26,500. Initially, the mobile will be available only in China. The company has yet to announce the global launch date and pricing including in India.

Design and Processor

The Nokia 7 got a premium glass build which is actually Nokia’s first smartphone boasting its 3D glass thermoforming technology. Aluminum alloy solid frame gives the mobile extra strength and durability. For colour options, you get to choose from Gloss Black and Matt White variants.

With super slim bezels on the sides, the Nokia 7 flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD IPS 1920 x 1080 display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The phone runs on Android 7.1.1 operating system with no bloatware or UI skin over the top. True to its word, Nokia guarantee regular security updates for the phone along with an upgrade to next Android version. For storing your media content, the mobile carries 64GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. You can further upgrade the storage up to 128GB using microSD card.

Camera and Connectivity

The Nokia 7 sports a 16-megapixel rear camera equipped with highly acclaimed Carl ZEISS lens. It also features f/1.8 aperture, 80-degree wide angle and dual flash support. In the front, for the selfie lovers, there is a 5-megapixel camera. It features f/2.0 aperture, 84-degree wide angle and dark light landscaping.

The rear camera of Nokia 7 can capture videos in 4K resolution at 30fps. Along with this you also get Nokia OZO audio technology, which allows you to record spatial 360-degree audio.

Just like the Nokia 8, the Nokia 7 comes with the dual vision mode. Here you can use both front and back cameras of the phone simultaneously for split-screen photos and video.

Coming to connectivity, the Nokia 7 supports 4G LTE network, which will work with every Indian telco 4G bands. You also get VoLTE support for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C and NFC. For extra security, the mobile also packs a fingerprint scanner placed at the back of the device. To fuel the mobile you get a 3000mAh non-removable battery with support for 18W fast charging.
