You need a premium device, you got the Nokia 6 and now you need a mid-range android smartphone? Nokia has one in its hand. HMD Global the mobile vendor who has the exclusive Nokia brand licensing rights in mobile phones has launched the second android smartphone under Nokia brand – the all new Nokia 5. On a quick glance the mobile features premium design, HD display, Snapdragon processor, 13-megapixel camera on the back, NFC and high-speed 4G LTE with VoLTE support.
Design and Performance
Nokia is named for its gorgeous design and build quality. Keeping to its name, the Nokia 5 got a smooth, minimalist metal unibody made out of a single block of 6000 series aluminium. The antenna lines you usually see on the back of any modern smartphones have been moved to the top and the bottom of the phone, giving the back of the mobile a clean look.
The Nokia 5 flaunts a bright fully-laminated and polarised 5.2-inch IPS LCD HD 1280 x 720 display covered with a 2.5D sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. As the screen is polarised you have a better visibility when using the mobile in direct sunlight. Under the hood, the mobile is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. For storing all your media content the mobile comes with 16GB of internal storage. You can further upgrade the storage up to 128GB using microSD card.
The hardware runs on the latest Android Nougat operating system with no skin over the top. It’s clean, clutter-free and Nokia guarantees regular updates for it. There is no unnecessary extras or any preloaded apps to fill up your internal storage.
Camera and Connectivity
On the photography side, the Nokia 5 comes with a 13-megapixel camera on the back. It features a f/2 aperture, 1.12um lens, PDAF, and dual tone flash support. On the front for selfie addicts, the mobile has the 8-megapixel autofocus camera. It got a field of view of 84 degrees, 1.12um lens, and the same f/2 aperture.
As for connectivity, the Nokia 5 will be available in both single SIM and dual SIM variants. The mobile comes with 4G LTE network that will support all Indian 4G bands. It also carries VoLTE support for making HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.1, Micro USB (USB 2.0), USB OTG and NFC. For extra security, the mobile comes with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the front home button. To power things up the mobile will come packed with 3000 mAh battery.
As it’s a mid-range smartphone, the Nokia 5 is priced at EUR 189 or approximately Rs 13,400. The mobile will be available in India and other parts of the world by Q2 2017.
