Buying a mobile, laptop or other electronic products from Amazon India and after using it for a couple of days, returning it to get a refund? Well, that mindset of Indians going to change.
Amazon India has updated its return and refund policy for electronic products and will no longer offer a refund in return. Electronic products that fall under the no-refund policy include Mobile phones, Tablets, Laptops, Desktops, Monitors, Cameras and Camera lenses that are fulfilled by Amazon.
So now a buyer won’t get a refund for returning an electronic product brought from Amazon India, instead, they will only be entitled to get a free replacement in case the product is defective or damaged.
“Mobile phones, Tablets, Laptops, Desktops, Monitors, Cameras and Camera lenses that are fulfilled by Amazon are not eligible for a refund and have a replacement only policy. In case you have received a defective or a damaged mobile phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, monitor, camera or camera lens that is fulfilled by Amazon, you will be eligible for a free replacement by the seller as per the product replacement policies provided on Amazon.in” – according to the Returns, Refunds & Replacement page in Amazon India.
Refurbished mobiles, tablets, and laptops can be still be returned for a refund within 10 days of purchase from Amazon India.
The main reason for Amazon or other e-commerce sites to end the refund policies is because of how its own buyers are abusing the system. There have been multiple cases where one buys a costly product from Amazon, use it for few days and then return it saying they no longer needed or got a defect in it.
In addition to that, while returning the product some buyers commit fraud and return the box with fake items.
Other Indian e-commerce players Flipkart and Snapdeal to have a similar no-refund policy for electronic products, especially on mobiles.
