Its Diwali and all operators has withdrawn their discounted SMS rates on this day, forcing its users to pay premium rates on sms. Most of the telecom operators charge higher sms rate ( varying from Rs1 to Rs5 ) than usual by saying “higher rates are for timely delivery of sms”. However MTNL is making a difference by continuing with the discounted rates from sms on Diwali. MTNL has said that there will be no blackout days, which means that its consumers can enjoy the discounted rates on all national holidays and special occasions.
Most of the telecom operators have already announced that Diwali and other special occasions will be a blackout day and they will charge premium rates. It was a way for this operators to gain maximum revenue from their customers. Most of the operators charge premium rates from Rs 1 to Rs 5 for one sms. Also the discounted call rates the customer got by special recharge where stooped on this particular days and charged higher rates.
MTNL has also announced special topup offer for Trump customers on the eve of Diwali. With the topup recharge of Rs 444, customers will get Rs 555 as talktime and this offer is valid till the period 01.10.2011 to 31.10.2011. Another Diwali special festive offer from MTNL includes talktime of Rs 1200 on topup of Rs 1000 and bumper talktime of Rs 4000 on topup of Rs 3000.
We are hoping other telecom operators also follow the path of MTNL and completely remove this blackout days for customers.
