Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) Mumbai, the state-owned telecommunications service provider now offering two BlackBerry service plans for its prepaid 2G and 3G customers in Mumbai circle. Both the plans now offering unlimited BlackBerry Email(POP/IMAP) access and also unlimited instant messaging.
BlackBerry service plan, BIS Lite which cost Rs 251 offers unlimited BlackBerry Email(POP/IMAP) access and also unlimited instant messaging for a period of 3odays. Blackberry users can now use world-class secure Email services to access their business and personal accounts. Also MTNL BlackBerry users can stay in touch with their friends using BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and Instant Messengers (IM) like Yahoo, GTalk, MSN etc. Internet Browsing is restricted in BB Browser and access allowed through MTNL Mumbai WAP browser and will cost 1p/10KB.
MTNL has also launched a low-cost BIS Lite(Trial) BlackBerry service plan, costing Rs 150, offering unlimited BlackBerry Email(POP/IMAP) access and also unlimited instant messaging for a period of 15days. The plan offers the same as the basic BIS Lite 251, only the validity period is reduced to 15days.
MTNL customer must have sufficient balance to avail the facility. Outgoing SMS for activation will not be charged. The SMS must be sent from the BlackBerry handset only. BIS Lite plan will be activated within 6 hours and the customer will receive SMS confirming the same. Also if the customer does not deactivate the service before expiry, then the BB plan will be automatically renewed. The service will be automatically deactivated in case of insufficient balance. For deactivation the blackberry MTNL customers need to SMS DACT BB to 444.
