Micromax, India’s largest homegrown mobile and tablet manufacturing brand enters the consumer electronics space with the launch of a series of LED TVs, Home Theatre Sound systems, Blue ray player and Innovative Android dongle. Powered by AVEA – Audio Visual Entertainment Architecture, customers buying Micromax home entertainment systems can experience the best in class picture quality and cinematic sound .
Micromax will manufacture televisions and home theater systems under a separate business unit. They are investing around Rs 100 crore in the consumer electronics division in the next three years and will set up a manufacturing facility in Rudrapur, which is capable of making 2,000 LED TVs a day.
“We are looking at capturing 8-10 per cent of the overall television market in India by 2014. In the next two-three years, we expect to log Rs 1,000 crore revenues from the consumers electronics segment. The consumer electronics division, which will manufacture televisions and home theater systems will operate as a separate business unit within Micromax. We will have a separate business head, channel partners and distributors for our consumer electronics products“said Rajesh Aggarwal, Managing Director of Micromax.
Micromax LED TVs range from 24 inches to 55 inches and price start from Rs 15,990 and go up to Rs 1,29,990. All the LED TVs model will offer Full HD resolution videos and two top LED TVs models 50 inches and 55 inches will offer 3D capabilities as well. The top end 55 inch model also offers Smart TV feature for Internet browsing and apps. 3D LED TVs will come with a pair of four 3D glasses, which make perfect for a family of four.
Micromax has also launched two home theatre sound systems, namely HT089F1 and HT037F1 offering 5.1 surround sound speakers and have a PMPO output of 4,000W and 5,000W respectively. Micromax HT089F1 sound system model offers support for digital FM radio and has USB/SD card capability. Micromax HT089F1 is priced at Rs 6990 and Micromax HT037F1 is priced at Rs 5990.
Another innovative product launched is the Micromax Smart Stick, a dongle which runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS and priced at Rs 4,990. With this dongle customers can bring Android experience directly to a television screen. It features a standard HDMI interface, and a USB host. The Smart Stick has got a 4GB of flash memory, Wi-Fi Direct connectivity and this enable one to connect with wireless mouse and keyboard. Micromax also has on offer a BluRay player supporting both 2D and 3D audio/ video formats, which it has priced at Rs 6,490.
