Dual cameras are here to become the next BIG thing on mobile photography. Adding to the mix, Indian mobile vendor Micromax has launched Micromax Dual 5 android smartphone in India. On a quick glance, the mobile features dual 13-megapixel camera on the back, 13-megapixel camera on the front, 128GB of storage, advanced SecureVault technology, and 4G LTE with support for VoLTE.
First, to the pricing, the Micromax Dual 5 will come with a price tag of Rs 24,999. It’s also the most affordable smartphone with a dual camera setup. The mobile will available exclusively through Flipkart and sale will start from 10th April 2017.
The Dual Photography
One of the most highlighted features of Micromax Dual 5 is its dual camera setup. Just like the recently launched LG G6, Honor 8 and iPhone 7 Plus, the Dual 5 packs a dual camera at back. There are two 13-megapixel cameras on the back. One with Sony RGB to capture rich colours, whereas the other lens with monochrome sensor captures more light with increased sharpness. The cameras feature f/1.8 aperture, 6 element lens and Dual tone flash support.
What can Dual 5 camera’s do? Well, with the dual camera combination you can capture crisper, sharper, and more details photos. With a wide aperture mode, the Dual 5 can capture bokeh effect or blur background effect like in DSLR. The camera can capture slow motion videos, 4K videos, Timelapse videos and can even make GIF.
On front for selfie addicts, the Micromax Dual 5 got a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. It features a 2-tone rear Soft Flash to capture your beautiful face at the right brightness.
Design and Performance
The Micromax Dual 5 got a premium metal unibody design with smooth curved edges. The phone weighs just 164grams and have great grip to hold in one hand. On the left side, the mobile features a physical button, that you can customise with specific functions. The mobile flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display with 2.5D glass over the top.
Under the hood, the mobile is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor with 4x A72 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and 4x A54 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz. The processor is coupled with 4GB RAM and Adreno 510 GPU for seamless multitasking and intense graphic performance. To store all your photos and videos from the dual camera the mobile carries 128GB of internal storage. If you feel the storage is not enough, then you can further expand the storage up to 128GB using microSD card.
Connectivity
As for connectivity, the Micromax Dual 5 supports high-speed 4G LTE networks that work with every telco’s 4G bands in India. In addition, it also supports VoLTE for HD voice and video calling. Other connectivity option includes 3G and 2G network support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.1. To fuel the whole device, it carries a 3200mAh mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. Additionally, the mobile got independent Security Chip that offers EAL 5+ military grade security. With this, the mobile can securely store your fingerprint data, PINs and passwords.
The Micromax Dual 5 runs on Android Marshmallow out-of-the-box with minimal skin over the top. It has integrated IR blaster which allow you to use the mobile as a remote control for devices such as TV, home theatre system, and AC.
