The old beauty got a tough and sturdy rebirth. Indian mobile vendor Micromax has relaunched Canvas 2 (2017) with a much-needed hardware upgrade. The main USP of the mobile is its unbreakable design that’s also damage resistant and durable. Other than that the mobile pack’s everything from HD display, quad-core processor with 3GB of RAM, expandable storage and 4G VoLTE support.
The 2017 edition Micromax Canvas 2 get’s a price tag of Rs 11,999. The mobile will be available exclusively via offline retail stores across India starting today. Micromax has partnered with Airtel to offer one-year unlimited calling and 4G data on every purchase of the mobile. Also, if you still manage to break the unbreakable screen, the company is offering one-year free screen replacement.
Design and Performance
The 2017 edition Micromax Canvas 2 got a bump up from its old design and now has a sleek premium look and feel. On the front we got the 5-inch HD display covered in 2.5D curved glass featuring Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Due to this Micromax is touting the mobile to be scratch resistant, damage resistant and highly durable.
Under the hood, the Micromax Canvas 2 (2017) is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek’s MT6737 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. To store all your media content the mobile carries 16GB of onboard storage. You can further expand the storage up to 64GB using microSD card.
Camera and Connectivity
As for photography, the Micromax Canvas 2 (2017) comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. On the front, we got a 5-megapixel selfie camera which also supports video calling.
For connectivity, the Micromax Canvas 2 (2017) supports 4G LTE network that works with every Indian telcos 4G band. In addition, the mobile also supports VoLTE, which allows you to make HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v4.0. The phone runs on an Android 7.0 Nougat OS with minimal skin over the top.
For extra security, the mobile comes with a fingerprint scanner placed at the front home button. The Micromax Canvas 2 (2017) carries a 3,050mAh Li-ion Polymer battery.
