Xiaomi has launched its android streaming device, the Mi Box 4k in India. The android TV-powered device lets you turn your dumb old TV to a powerful Smart TV. It supports 4K HDR10 streaming, Dolby Audio, Chromecast built-in, a massive collection of apps and boasts all the Google android TV goodness.

Xiaomi Mi Box 4k is priced at Rs 3,499 and will go on sale for the first time on 10th May at start 12 PM (noon). It will be available exclusively through Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Home stores and Mi Studio stores. The company also plans to bring the devices to partner offline stores across India.

One could easily set-up the Mi Box 4k, that plugs into your existing television through the HDMI port. Then connect the device to the internet via a wireless Wi-Fi connection. That’s it, you’re up and running the device.

Talking about internals, the Mi Box 4k is powered by a 2.0Ghz Cortex-A53 Quad-core 64bit processor coupled with Mali-450 750MHz GPU and 2GB of DDR3 RAM. It also comes with 8GB of internal storage. The device is equipped with 4K+ HDR 10 technology and comes with high-speed 4K processing for up to 60fps playback. For audio, you get Dolby Audio + DTS 2.0 Digital Out.

Unlike Mi TVs which comes with PatchWall interface, the Mi Box 4k runs on stock Android TV 9.0 with full support for Play Store. Thus virtually you’re not restricted to a selected number of apps but could enjoy each and every android TV supported apps. This includes Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, YouTube and more.

The Mi Box 4k comes with Chromecast Ultra built-in, which enables you to cast up to 4K Ultra-HD content from your smartphone, tablet, laptop and desktop instantly to your TV. If you’re stuck anywhere, you got the Google Assistant to help you out. With the Data Saver feature enabled, you could save data usage and extend watch time.

As for connectivity, the Mi Box 4k comes with Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2.4GHz/5GHz, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI 2.0b and USB 2.0. With the USB port, you could connect a portable hard drive or shared hard drive to play your videos or photos. There is also 3.5mm + SPDIF audio out port. It also comes with a voice remote control which got dedicated buttons for Google Assistant, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
