Xiaomi has unveiled the successor for its quiet popular Mi A2 Android One smartphone in India – the Mi A3 Android One smartphone. As the company says “It brings together the best of Google and best of Xiaomi“.
As you expect from any Android One smartphone, you get the latest android OS running on your Mi A3 smartphone in its purest form with no bloatware (except the essential MI camera app), no Mi suite of apps and no ads. It also has better integration with Google suite of apps like Google Assistant, Google Photos, Google Lens, Digital Wellbeing etc.
So the software part is good, now to the hardware part of Mi A3. For the base model of the phone with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage, you need to shell out Rs 12,999. Whereas, the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model of Mi A3 are priced at Rs 15,999. Mi A3 Full Specifications
Unlike its predecessor Mi A2 metal unibody design, the Mi A3 comes with a glass sandwich design. The phone gets a curved 3D glass back panel, that company touts as “Dynamic holographic design”. It’s a gradient back panel that shifts its colour pattern as you turn the phone. The front of the phone flaunts a 6.08-inch Super AMOLED HD+ display with a resolution of 1560 by 720 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
You would be thinking that the HD+ display in Mi A3 is a downgrade from the full HD display in Mi A2. But you definitely need to consider the fact that you’re getting a Super AMOLED screen that got a wide colour gamut and richly lucid detailing, instead of the LCD display in Mi A2. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the front glass from scratch and impact. One thing more to mention here is the “Dot Notch” in the front screen housing the front camera.
Beneath the front display, you also get the 7th generation in-screen fingerprint sensor. It has a larger sensing area and comes with an improved micro-distance optical lens that can sense a pixel size of up to 7.2micrometre. Thus, you could securely unlock your phone in a matter of seconds and in any situation like in strong light, low temperature and other situations.
Under the hood, the Mi A3 is powered by a 2.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 AIE octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 610 GPU. It’s paired with two RAM and storage combinations. Either with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage or with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. You could further expand the storage up to 256GB using microSD card in the hybrid slim slot.
AI Triple Camera
One of the main highlights of Mi A1, M1 A2 and now Mi A3 Android One smartphones are its camera and more than decent picture quality it could take. The Mi A3 comes with an AI-powered triple camera at the back. It combines a 48MP primary camera featuring Sony IMX586 sensor, f/1.79 aperture and PDAF that would take crystal clear pictures. The second 8MP camera features 118-degree FOV and f/2.2 aperture that could capture ultra-wide portraits. Finally, the 2MP depth camera or sensor for depth detection of far off subjects in any scene. This camera sensors are accompanied by AI integrated camera app, which adds features like AI Scene detection.
The rear cameras can shoot 4K videos and comes with EIS support. You could also shoot slow-motion videos in 1080p full HD at 120fps.
For selfies, the Mi A3 comes with a 32-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and 79-degree FOV. It also packs AI integration like AI Portrait mode, AI Scene detection and Palm shutter support. The camera also works for AI Face unlock feature.
Connectivity and Other features

Other connectivity options include 2.4G WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, Infrared blaster and USB Type-C port. Luckily, the phone also comes equipped with a 3.5mm headphone port. The phone also gets a large 0.915cc speaker box and the audio output is amplified by Smart Power Amplifier.
