It seems buying Motorola has some effect on Lenovo. The big change? The mobile vendor is now opting for stock android OS with no bloatware installed on its newest android smartphones. After unveiling Lenovo K8 Note last month, the Chinese mobile vendor is back with the launch of Lenovo K8 Plus android smartphone in India. The mobile features pure stock android OS, dual camera setup, octa-core processor and 4G with VoLTE support.

While Lenovo K8 Note was a mid-range smartphone, the Lenovo K8 Plus will come under the lower mid-range segment with a price tag of Rs 10,999. As for availability and first sale, the mobile will be a Flipkart exclusive and sale starts at 12 PM on 7th September 2017. For launch day, Flipkart will be offering an exchange bonus of 10K on any old phone, Buyback Guarantee of up to Rs 5000 and extra 30GB of 4G data from Reliance Jio.

Design and Performance

Lenovo K8 Plus have a premium all-metal body design with curved edges allowing you to easily hold in one hand. For colour choices, you get to choose from Venom Black and Fine Gold colours. The mobile flaunts a 5.2-inch full HD IPS 1920×1080 display with a 178-degree viewing angle. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and there is an Oleophobic coating for keeping it clean from your fingerprints.

Under the hood, the Lenovo K8 Plus is powered by a 2.6Ghz MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. To store your media content the mobile comes with 32GB of internal storage. You can further expand the storage up to 128GB using a microSD card which gets its own dedicated card slot. So, you can have two nano SIM and microSD card on the mobile. Giving you a much smoother experience, the mobile runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS which is completely stock with no bloatware installed. The company also hinted an updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in the near future.

Camera and Connectivity

As we said earlier, the Lenovo K8 Plus comes with a dual rear camera setup. This includes a 13-megapixel PureCel Plus sensor for capturing photos and a 5-megapixel sensor to capture depth information. It features f/2.0 largan precision 5-Element lens, dual ISP Imagiq and LED flash support. Combining this two parallel rear cameras you can capture photos with DSLR-like bokeh effect. Basically, it’s the same camera module from the Lenovo K8 Note.

For selfie addicts, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It features 84-degree wide angle lens, f/2.0 aperture and even packs a front LED flash (party flash) allowing you to take brighter selfies even during low light condition. It also comes with various camera modes like Pro Mode and Beautify Mode.

For connectivity, Lenovo K8 Plus support 4G LTE network that works with every Indian telcos 4G band. The mobile also supports 4G VoLTE allowing you to make HD voice and video calls. Other connectivity options include 3G and 2G network, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2. The device also includes a fingerprint scanner placed at the back of the device.

Adding more multimedia capabilities, the Lenovo K8 Plus comes with Dolby Atmos enhancing the audio experience. Further for widescreen cinematic experience, the mobile packs TheaterMax VR technology. You just need to use the mobile with a VR headset like Google Cardboard or Mi VR Play to view media contents on a super sized virtual screen. There is also a dedicated music key, which can also be used to trigger other apps. The mobile is fueled by a 4000mAh battery that can easily last more than a day. It also supports rapid charging with the help of its 15W rapid charger.

The Lenovo K8

While Lenovo K8 Plus is only available online, the company has also announced Lenovo K8 which will be an offline model. It’s a watered down version of K8 Plus with much less powerful MediaTek Helio P20 processor. You would able to buy this mobile from any offline mobile retail store near you.
