Kerala Tourism goes Smarter with Mobile Site, Apps for iPhone and Android

Kerala the God’s Own Country, India’s perfect destination for tourism, holidays, Honeymoon, art,  culture, tradition, health care, yoga, ayurveda and meditation. To tap the new tourist season starting in two months Kerala Govt owned Kerela Tourism has launched mobile optimized site, WAP guide, official apps for iOS and Android, and Bluetooth Kiosks which will help travelers to explore destinations in the state. This new products were unveiled by Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar on 10th July 2012.

During the launch Minister A.P. Anil Kumar commented ” The world is making a transition from web based tools to smart phone based tools. Kerala Tourism is making another ground-breaking move with this new array of mobile products to seize the growing opportunity and stay put a notch above our competitors. For the tourists travelling to Kerala, these products will prove to be their e-guardians by giving a comprehensive supportive and protective cover rather than being just e-guides.

The Kerala Tourism website  (www.keralatourism.org) originally started with just 50 visitors a day in 1998 and today it gets 7000-8000 visits per day adding up more than 2.5 million visits a year. The website had won the National Tourism Award for its website five times in the last decade, recognizing its innovations. Kerala tourism is also very active in social media like YouTube with 4 million video views a year, 185K fans on Facebook and 9,591 followers in Twitter.

Kerala Tourism, a pioneer in leveraging internet and mobile platforms, launched innovative mobile optimized site and application in both Apple iOS and Android for accessing ‘God’s Own Country’ at your finger tips. Tourist with smartphones visiting the official Kerala tourism website will now be redirected to fully mobile optimized website (m.keralatourism.org) featuring tour planning, updates, guidance, calendar, photo gallery and destination details.

The official Kerala Tourism app for the Apple iOS brings many features to tourist’s visiting the God’s Own Country! on there iPhone, iPad and iPad. Users are free to download the Kerala tourism app from Apple app store. Some of the innovative features from the app include:
