More than a year back Jolla first introduced its smartphone running the MeeGo based Sailfish OS. At that time it was only available in Europe with very limited availability. That has changed now, Jolla has launched its first smartphone running innovative Sailfish OS in India exclusively through Snapdeal and with a price tag of Rs 16,499.
Jolla smartphone is built by ex-Nokia employees, so you can imagine the quality and simplicity of design it would carry. The smartphone got a sleek design that’s easy to hold in one hand and it doesn’t carry any front facing buttons.
One of the main highlighted feature of Jolla smartphone is the Sailfish operating system based on Nokia’s MeeGo OS. It comes with several innovative features like support for gesture based navigation and live multitasking that shows all running apps on one screen without having to open and close them. Another important feature of Sailfish OS is the compatibility with Android Apps. One can download install any Android apps like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp etc via third-party app stores like Yandex and Aptoide Store. Of course you will miss the mammoth of apps directly from Google Play, but you can always download the APK and side load them.
Coming to the specification Jolla smartphone spots a 4.5 inch IPS qHD display with a screen resolution of 960 x 450 pixels. It’s powered 1.4 Ghz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 1GB RAM. It carries 16 GB internal storage, out of which 12GB can be used and also can be expanded using microSD card. On the back it got a 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash support and on the front a 2 megapixel camera. On the connectivity side the smartphone supports 3G and 2G networks along with WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC options.

The Jolla smartphone comes with replaceable back cover called The Other Half that includes Keira Black, Aloe or Poppy Red. Each back cover brings its own unique look, ambience and custom sounds.
