For the ultimate dominance in the low-range feature phone market. Intex, the Indian mobile vendor has launched the Turbo+ 4G feature phone or as the company calls it, a Smart Feature Phone. The ultra low-cost phone will come essentially with 4G VoLTE support, that enables to make HD voice calls.
How much does the ‘Smart Feature Phone’ cost? The Intex Turbo+ 4G gets a price tag of Rs 1,999. The phone will be available to purchase through online and offline stores across India by the end of the month. Other than Turbo+ 4G, Intex has also launched eight 2G feature phones under Navratna series with price ranging from Rs 700 to Rs 1500.
What’s inside Intex Turbo+ 4G
Intex Turbo+ 4G is typically a feature phone with a colour display and physical keypad, but packing some smart features. The phone flaunts a 2.4-inch QVGA display and is powered by a dual-core chipset coupled with 512MB RAM. You get 4GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. For photography, the phone comes with the 2-megapixel rear camera and VGA front-facing camera.
Coming to the main part, the Intex Turbo+ 4G as the name suggest will support 4G LTE networks in India. You also get VoLTE support for making HD voice and video calls. One downside, it seems is the phone will be running a forked version of abandoned Firefox OS called KaiOS. The phone gets its fuel from a 2,000mAh battery that can easily last for more than a day.
Intex Turbo+ 4G is placed in direct competition with JioPhone with a very comparable specification and feature. But the zero rupees price (there is a Rs 1500 refundable deposit), a TV cable system and Jio Prime plans make JioPhone more attractive to the masses. Yet with the cut throat pricing, Intex Turbo+ 4G will definitely be going to disturb the 2G and 3G feature phone market in the country.
