Google Realtime Search

Search engine gaint Google today made a strange move by making the Google Realtime Search page offline ( check here ).  Google Realtime Search is use to find relevant real-time updates from online services including Twitter, FriendFeed, Facebook, MySpace, indenti.ca, TwitArmy, and Jaiku.

“We’ve temporarily disabled google.com/realtime. We’re exploring how to incorporate Google+ into this functionality, so stay tuned,” Google said in a Twitter post.

According to Yahoo and other news sources Google pulled the plug on the realtime search to include the newly launched social tool, Google+ into this functionality. There are also reports that Google’s deal with Twitter to include Twitter special feed updates in its real-time search results had expired on July 2.

Google says in a explanation

“Since October of 2009, we have had an agreement with Twitter to include their updates in our search results through a special feed, and that agreement expired on July 2.

While we will not have access to this special feed from Twitter, information on Twitter that’s publicly available to our crawlers will still be searchable and discoverable on Google.”

Anyway Google is keen to relaunch the service with its new social tool Google+. Hope it will be soon happening.
