The wait is over, Google official launched its cloud storage offering the Google Drive – Keep everything, Share anything. The much awaited service from Google finally launched with 5GB of free cloud storage and expandable upto 16TB storage under monthly subscription.
Google Drive is a place where users can create, share, collaborate, and keep all of their stuff. Users can upload and access all of their files, including videos, photos, Google Docs, PDFs and beyond. Google Drive is available to anyone with a Google account and when singing in you instantly get 5GB of storage free of cost. Google Drive is currently available for PC, MAC and Android devices although iOS Apple users will have to wait just a little bit longer for the service.
Google has also fully integrated its Google Docs functionality to Drive allowing you to share, edit and access all your Office documents and PDFs in real-time. Once you choose to share content with others, you can add and reply to comments on anything (PDF, image, video file, etc.) and receive notifications when other people comment on shared items. Google Drive allows users to store everything safely and access it anywhere (especially while on the go). You can access their stuff from anywhere on the web, in your home, at the office, while running errands and from all of your devices. Users has an option to install Drive on their Mac or PC and can download the Google Drive app to their Android phone or tablet. For blind users Google provide access Drive with a screen reader.
Google has integrated its whole search technology to Google Drive. Users can search by keyword and filter by file type, owner and more. Drive can even recognize text in scanned documents using Optical Character Recognition(OCR) technology. Google Drive has also an inbuilt mage recognition so that if you drag and drop photos from your Goa trip into Drive, you can later search for [GOA] and photos of its gorges should pop up. It helps to find photos even if its has not been tagged.
Google Drive has been tightly integrated with other Google services, especially its social networking initiative Google+. Users can attach photos from Drive to posts in Google+, and also users will be able to attach files from Drive directly to emails in Gmail. Google is also working with third-party developers to enable sending of faxes, editing videos and creating website mockups, directly from Drive.
If you quickly finish up the 5G free storage then your can upgrade to more storage at a very low price compared to other providers. You can get 25GB storage for $2.49/month, 100GB for $4.99/month or even 1TB for $49.99/month. The service said to be officially launched, but still not everyone has access to Google Drive just yet, when you first signup for the service you will be greeted with a message “Your Google Drive is not ready yet”. So wait till its get ready for your account.
