Google Nexus 7 goes on sale in India for Rs 19,990

According to TOI, Alex Huang, managing director of system business group at ASUS India said “We will start selling Nexus 7 in Indian stores from tomorrow“.  Asus was ready to launch the tablet in India sooner, but waiting for final approval from Google.

One of the tweets from Clinton Jeff, executive editor for UnleashThePhones says about the official announcement from Asus –

Nexus 7 tablet features a 7inch HD display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels and protected by scratch resistant Corning glass. Its powered by NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor with a 12-core GPU that provides everything in faster, the pages load quickly, gameplay is smooth and responsive, and running multiple apps is a breeze. It runs on the latest Android mobile OS Android 4.2, Jelly Bean which brings in whole new features. Do read our Nexus 7 launch article for more details.

The 16GB nexus 7 tablet seems to be priced a little steep, as the same model only cost $199 which is roughly Rs 11,000 in US. If we also consider the tax and other import duties a price of Rs 12,000 to Rs 14,000 should be a fair amount, considering Nexus 7 has been placed by Google as a budget friendly tablet taking on iPad, iPad mini and Kindle fire tablets. With this high price we need to see how price conscious Indian customers accept the Google’s flagship tablet.
