Search engine giant Google launched its much-rumored and awaited Flipboard competitor, Google Currents. A gorgeous magazine like newsreader application which is currently available for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Google Currents is basically a Flipboard like app that let you read news from various sites, magazines, blogs and other online publications in a stylish magazine like layout on your mobile and tablets. The app have two main sections of content: Library and Trending. Library is where content from your favorite publications, which you opted to follow will show up , and the app will regularly download and update the content so you can access and read the articles offline. The Trending tab displays the hottest trending stories across the web, its nicely arranged into different categories like technology, business, entertainment, world news etc and the news are drawn from a variety of sources.
To get started, simply download the app (Android market or iTunes Store) and choose the publications you want to subscribe to for free. You can also add RSS feeds, Youtube video channels and photo feeds from picasa, public Google+ streams and Google Reader subscriptions you’re already following.
