The new Chromecast model, debuted as Google Chromecast 3 has been officially unveiled in India. The media streaming device gets a brand new design, performance improvements and lots more app support.

Google Chromecast 3 comes as the successor to the highly popular Chromecast 2, which debuted way back in September 2015. The third-generation of the media streaming device has all the features of the outgoing device, but with improved performance. It keeps the hockey puck-like design of Chromecast but adds a matte finish instead of the glossy finish in previous models.

Google Chromecast 3 launched in India

The Chromecast 3 is basically an HDMI dongle that once plugged into your TV and connected with your WiFi network, let you watch your favourite video on the big screen. You could control it with your smartphone, tablet or laptop running any OS including Android, iOS, Windows, Mac or Chrome OS.

It will allow you to stream YouTube videos, Netflix, Hotstar, and even media contents directly from the Chrome browser. Currently, there are more than 800 apps that are compatible with the Chromecast. Users can control various aspects such as volume, play, pause etc during a video and audio playback directly from their smartphones, tablets or laptops. If you have a Google Home device, then you could put your voice in charge. With the help of Google Assistant, you can use your voice to stream from compatible apps, mute the volume, rewind, and more.

The new Google Chromecast 3 can now offer 15 per cent higher hardware speed. Thus, it could now support 1080p full-HD resolution videos at 60fps. Previous Chromecast models where only able to stream HD (720p) resolution videos at 60ps. Google also plans to add Chromecast Audio features to the upgraded device. Thus you could play music in sync on all connected speakers throughout your home. Going through the technical specifications, the Google Chromecast 3 has a flexible HDMI cable that plugs directly into the TV. The power supply is enabled through a Micro-USB port. It supports all your wireless networks with Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4 GHz/5 GHz).
