If you got a bad mobile internet connection that also costlier for every MB of usage, then you probably have Facebook Lite installed on your smartphone. The slimmed down version of Facebook’s main app that uses few data and works in all network conditions. But for a one-to-one chat or messaging you still need the full-fledged Facebook Messenger app installed.
Facebook has introduced a trimmed down version of its popular messenger app called the ‘Messenger Lite‘. As the name suggest, the app works flawlessly on slower mobile internet speeds, still offering all core messenger features.
The Facebook Messenger Lite app which is under 10MB size takes up only small space in your smartphone that mostly have low internal storage. It works smoothly on basic android smartphones and even more smoothly on most of the high-spec smartphones. You can effortlessly send and receive text, photos, stickers and links to/from anyone using Messenger.
“With Messenger Lite, more people can stay in contact, regardless of network conditions or storage limitations on their Android devices.” said Tom Mulcahy, Engineering Manager for Messenger Lite.
The new Facebook Messenger Lite app is available for download from Google Play store. It’s being roll out to people in Kenya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Venezuela. The app will launch in India in the coming months.
