Tata seems to be losing in the telecom sector, as the merger talk between Vodafone India and Tata Docomo in all-time high. According to the latest telecom subscription data as on 30th November, 2013 released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Tata Docomo is the only single entity who lost subscriber base from their network, every other telecom operator in India seems to adding massive amount subscribers to their network. Tata Docomo lost around 106,595 subscribers during the period, where as Bharti Airtel added maximum number of subscribers during the period by around 1.72 million followed by Aircel by around 1.54 million subscribers and Vodafone India by around 1.3 million subscribers.

Total wireless subscriber base which include GSM, CDMA and FWP subscribers increased from 875.48 million in October, 2013 to 881.13 million at the end of November 2013, registering a monthly growth of 0.65%.  When taking the total number of telephone subscribers in India, it increased from 904.56 million at the end of October, 2013 to 910.14 million at the end of November 2013.

Bharti Airtel retained its top position with 22.31% of the Indian telecom market share, followed by Vodafone India with 17.94% market share and Idea Cellular in the third position with 14.57 % market share.

106.87 million subscribers used Mobile Number Portability

Mobile Number Portability requests increased from 104.79 million subscribers at the end of October, 2013 to 106.87 million at the end of November 2013. In the month of November 2013 alone 2.09 million requests have been made for MNP. Maximum number of MNP request have been received from Karnataka by around 12.2 million, followed by Rajasthan with 10.6 million and Andhra Pradesh with 9.7 million.

14.47 million Wireline Broadband subscribers

According to the latest TRAI report there are around 14.47 million Wireline Broadband subscribers in the country at the end of November, 2013. Top 10 service providers constitute 94.78% of total wired broadband subscriber base, in which BSNL is the leading operator with 68.92% market share, followed by Bharti Airtel with 9.1% market share and MTNL with 7.6% market share.
