Overview
If you like high-end smartphones but are confused how to select the right smartphone then you should know that these 3 smartphones are the best at present in the market.
While Samsung Galaxy S II has already been launched the rest two Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime and HTC Amaze- the two most awaited Android smartphones will be launched soon but their specs are already out which we will be discussing below. One thing I should say before starting the comparison is that these smartphones contain some amazing features and apps and are worth to be called superphones.
T-Mobile HTC Amaze 4G
In association with T-Mobile, HTC Amaze is going to come out with a dual-core 1.5Ghz processor, a 8MP camera with some unique ‘specialist’ features and 1080p HD video recording support. It runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread on top which is HTC’s latest iteration of highly popular HTC Sense 3.5. For connectivity it has 4G data support via HSPA+ and 4G LTE.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime
Galaxy Nexus or as famously called Google Nexus Prime is the first smartphone to feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It comes with 4.6 inch AMOLED HD display and runs on 1.5 Ghz processor. The camera has 5 MP resolution and is capable of 1080p HD video shoot courtesy its improved image sensor. For connectivity it has 4G data support via HSPA+ and 4G LTE.
Samsung Galaxy II
It is a 4.52-inch touchscreen smartphone which is the largest display touchscreen on T-Mobile. Powered by 1.5-GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor it runs on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Like other Galaxy T-mobile variants this Android smartphone too has a Super AMOLED Plus technology display for vividly clear display.
Battle of the specs
Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime has a curved 4.6-inchcurved Gorilla glass Super AMOLED HD touchscreen. The display is HD at 720p and has a resolution of 1280X720 pixels. The camera too is HD capable at 5MP and shoots HD video of 1080p. It is powered by CPU from Texas Instruments with processing speed of 1.5 GHz and 1GB of dual channel RAM. The width of Nexus Prime is very less at 8.8mm.
Samsung Galaxy S II has a 4.52-inch display which is very near to Nexus Prime. It is powered by a dual core processor, 8.49 mm Slim design, Wi-Fi, HSPA +21 Mbps, 8MP camera with LED Flash, full HD Recording and Playback, GPS, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, Bluetooth, 4GB ROM and many more attractive features which makes it a worthy competitor to Nexus Prime except for the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
HTC Amaze is the smallest of all three Android smartphones; it has a display of 4.3 inches. The specs of HTC Amaze are dual core processor, 11.9mm, 8MP and 2 MP rear and front cameras, full HD recording and Playback, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, Bluetooth and many more high in demand features.
Feature by feature comparison-Showdown
Display sizes – Nexus has the largest display of all at 4.6” whereas Samsung does not lack much behind by having a display of 4.5’. The smallest display amongst the three Android smartphones is of HTC Amaze at 4.3”.
Display resolution – As far as display resolution is concerned the clear winner is Samsung Galaxy Nexus with a resolution of 1280X720 pixels as well it has the highest pixel density amongst the three and also features Super AMOLED plus technology. Galaxy S II too has Super AMOLED plus technology but it still lacks behind Galaxy Nexus Prime. This difference comes out clearly in sunlight where the display of Nexus Prime is clearest amongst the three. Samsung Galaxy S II has a display resolution of 800×480 pixels, while the HTC Amaze 4G has a resolution of 960×540 pixels.
Processing power – In category of processing power Galaxy Nexus has lost it against Galaxy S II and HTC Amaze because where Nexus Prime is powered by a dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, Galaxy S II and Amaze have a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz.
Storage power-Memory – All three have equal memory specification with internal memory of 16GB and external memory expandable up to 32GB.
Operating system – Do I really need to say that when Galaxy Nexus Prime has Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Galaxy S II as well as HTC Amaze have Android 2.3 Gingerbread who is the clear winner here?
Multimedia – Galaxy Nexus is equipped with a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash and a front camera but Samsung Galaxy S II and HTC Amaze have an 8 MP rear camera with a 2 MP front camera which are better than Nexus. However for video shooting all three are capable to take videos of 1080p resolution in HD.
Here worth describing is HTC Amaze which is more of a camera oriented Android smartphone having an f/2.2 wide-angle lens, backside illumination, and dual-LED flash. It boasts of many other special features like PerfectPics, SmartShot, BurstShot, SweepShot, and ClearShot HDR features. While both the Samsung smartphones don’t have a dedicated camera shutter button, HTC Amaze has the camera shutter button on the right side of its body.
However this doesn’t mean that in any way the image capturing qualities of both the Samsung Galaxy smartphones is bad. Both capture high quality images with image stabilization features, single LED flash, and face and smile detection being the features of both the smartphones.
Battery life – Galaxy Nexus Prime is equipped with a 1,750mAh battery but as no one has still got hands on it so we can’t tell the exact battery life time. Samsung Galaxy S II has a Li-ion battery rated at 1,850mAh which is known to give a battery backup of 7 hours in continuous usage mode whereas HTC Amaze rated at 1,730mAh gives a battery life of 6 hours under similar conditions. However in standby mode, HTC Amaze 4G can last up to 264 hours whereas Samsung Galaxy S II lasts only for 167 hours. So HTC Amaze doubt wins in terms of battery life against Samsung Galaxy S II but as it is a competition between two no official winner here.
I would be termed as idiot if I announce a clear winner here because it will depend on the user requirements to decide the best smartphone for them. However as far as I am considered I would prefer Samsung Galaxy Nexus Prime for the reason that it has Android 4.0 as well it is completely touchscreen. So what do you think? Which is the best smartphone according to you? Share your thoughts by leaving a comment.
